Shipping policy

All orders are processed within 2 to 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email. You will receive another notification when your order has shipped. 

There might be occasions when the order processing is delayed beyond the 2-3 business days timeframe. This might be due to: exceptionally high volume of orders, problems in the courier service or events such as lockdowns due to COVID-19 which are out of our control.

If there is a significant delay in processing your order, we will communicate as soon as possible about the actual timeframe of processing your order.

Deliveries are Monday-Friday, excluding public holidays and weekends. If you need your order to be delivered on a weekend, please email us prior to placing the order and we will send an invoice.

 

Domestic Shipping Rates and Estimates

For orders under $100:  Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout. The rates for rural shipping are unfortunately higher due to higher prices for courier delivery to rural areas. This discrimination in price to urban and rural NZ is not something we like or prefer but is outside our control.

Free shipping for orders over $100:  Free shipping is only applicable to urban North Island and Urban South Island. This does not apply to rural areas. We would have loved to offer free shipping to rural, but the surcharges are simply too high.

Orders eligible for free shipping will be sent by non-signature courier in most cases. However, if the items are fragile (not likely with books) or due to their intrinsic value we will upgrade the courier to signature at not extra cost to you. This is at our discretion.

 

Local delivery within Hastings & Napier

 For orders under $100: Local delivery within Hastings & Napier is at a flat rate of $6 irrespective of the number of items available.

For orders over $100:  Free delivery. Orders eligible for free shipping will be sent by non-signature courier in most cases. However, if the items are fragile (not likely with books) or due to their intrinsic value we will upgrade the courier to signature at no extra cost to you. This is at our discretion.

Deliveries are made during business hours Monday to Friday. We will contact you via text message with the phone number you provided at checkout to notify you on the day of our arrival. 

 

International Shipping

We offer international shipping most countries. However, the shipping charges can vary wildly from country to country. Please contact us before placing your order so that we can provide you with a accurate estimate of the shipping costs.

Your order may be subject to import duties and taxes (including VAT), which are incurred once a shipment reaches your destination country. Best Books is not responsible for these charges if they are applied and are your responsibility as the customer.

How do I check the status of my order?

When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available. 

If you haven’t received your order within 3-4 days of receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact us at info@bestbooks.co.nz with your name and order number, and we will look into it for you.

 

Shipping to P.O. boxes

 Currently we do not ship to P.O. boxes. 

 

Refunds, returns, and exchanges

We do not accept returns if you change your mind or do not like the item.

If your order arrives damaged in any way, please email us as soon as possible at info@bestbooks.co.nz with your order number and a photo of the item’s condition. We address these on a case-by-case basis but will try our best to work towards a satisfactory solution.
